Pros: hits it low and straight: what more do you want
Cons: noisey on the range, bad head cover
"Took delivery of the SQ 5900 a month ago, first impressions were good. It’s a great, modern looking club, very light and well put together. The square profile is blended with a natural looking curvature all round and although it’s far from beautiful you know it will turn some heads. The head cover is pretty poor but once you remove the plastic clip it stays on and does the job. On the range the club feels long and has an unusual shaft angle at address, I needed to stand perhaps 1" closer to the ball than with my previous driver to get comfortable, even though the shaft is exactly the same length. This also seems to counter the issue people have mentioned they got round by teeing up extra high. I have the 11.5 deg loft with Stiff Mitsubishi Diamana shaft. On the back swing the club feels extremely well balanced and the stiff shaft feels like a regular or even senior flex. This could be a bad thing, but for me it feels natural and has relaxed my back swing and helps me keep my mind clear. Swinging thru the balance comes into line and although the shaft still seems on the softer side the results have been extremely good, with a straight, low and penetrating trajectory. I think I have reduced my swing speed about 2% and I am getting great results. Now several people have mentioned that this is a noisy club, and it is – on the indoor range the volume is on the verge of obscene and not pleasant… kind of like a car crashing into a skip. You don’t want to be topping and slicing with this one because people will notice. Luckily you will most likely be creaming them down the middle. Outside with a good ball and tee this club becomes a completely different animal. My first time outdoors on a raised tee in front of maybe 20 people, I’m thinking “here we go, I’m gonna get laughed at ‘cos of the hideous noise”. The club feels good, I take a sweet swing, I actually feel the ball trampoline off the club face as though I had crushed it flat, and the ball fizzes off low and dead straight about 260 yards in a stiff head wind. The noise was awesome, loud but high pitched and positive, totally different from the noise at the range. Now I can step up to the tee with confidence and have cut about 4 strokes in the month. You don't get the sweet spot that often but even the ugly feeling drives seem to go straight. Everyone thats had a go seems to hit it long and straight first try. This is not your traditional golf club…. It’s a Nike winning stick. At this price you can’t go wrong!!!"

Pros: great off the tee and easy to hit, good distance
Cons: not a big fan of the headcover, not as much rollout as some drivers
"I bought this bad boy after having a couple of drivers beforehand, which i used to always have a relative slice with.
I must admit, it did take a little getting used to the head but it's the only driver I have ever felt 100% confident with at the tee. Best of all it is a rather hard club to slice, with the ball trying to always work its way back to centre.
Sound wise its really nice and a solid hit of the centre lets you now with a healthy sound. Distance wise the ball flies forever and has an incredible trajectory. Roll out is not as far but its straight as an arrow. I find putting my tee peg lower helps, the ball should sit nicely in the centre and just peeking over the ridge.
As for the perfect club for me I reckon this is it. I have it with the stock Diamana shaft in Stiff. The colouring is also nice as the powerbow is a daker grey and doesn't stand out as much as previous models but blends into the main head.
I would highly recommend this club if your a mid to high or high to low handicapper. It works a treat and is well worth the pennies. However if you are looking for a Driver that you can work left to right or right to left, this isn't the one. Long and straight is this boys cup of tea.

Climbing the Ladder!!!
Date: October 18, 2009
Pros: plenty!!!, forgiving, "straight....er" than most drivers, fantastic value, confidence-inspiring
Cons: the neighbours know when you miss-hit!!!, head cover is a bit big in the bag!!!
"Ok, the thing I find frustrating about reviews on clubs is when someone likes a single club (which also happens to be their first) and say it's the best club EVER, BUY IT!!!
I've "invested" in four pretty decent drivers now, and each time there's something about them that is a plus point, but there comes a time when it might stop working for you.
What I would suggest about this club is that it's pretty stable and consistent and fairly easy to keep your standard shots within a respectable range area.
Since using this club, I would say that I am GENERALLY hitting a greater distance than before, but this is greatly emphasised by the fact that I am hitting my drives where I intended to place them more often.
I have managed to stop any accidental hooks off the tee, and can control my slices enough to use them effectively on a course even under pressure! That confidence has now extended to the rest of my game after a few months of this driver.
Once you can use it to hit straighter, you'll find it's got a lot of potential!
I'm teeing the ball lower, hitting more accurately, and placing some excellent drives on the course with confidence.
I got this club when it was £97 here, but at £80 now, it's certainly the most attractive driver on here, in my opinion!!!
Remember, you need to be as happy with your club in as many ways as you can be, and if I lost this club, I'd get another straight away!!!
When you hit this club RIGHT, it sounds great, but a miss-hit can turn heads..... but the miss-hits should become fewer and farther between, and for ME, it's far more forgiving than my last four decent drivers!!!"

"great quality from nike at a bargain price £80 in sale.
Very straight and easy to hit with excellent distance.

Excellent Driver
Date: September 11, 2009
Pros: looks good, feels good, hits long
"I couldn't get on with my previous driver which came with the set and thought i'd invest in a new one. After extensive research i came across this one at an excellent price and thought why not? I took it straight on the course and struggled to hit it properly. After a session on the range and adjusting my swing slightly i am now very pleased with it. I am hitting more fairways with greater distance and it has already helped me get my score down. Well worth the money!!"

"Nike Sumo was great value for money. On the course it gave me great results off the tee very quickly. Whilst the distance I achieved was about the same as my previous driver, I find I am straighter and on the fairway more regularly."

Very nice, even for a beginner
Date: August 23, 2009
Pros: value for money is absolutely great, even a beginner like me can handle this club, feels great
Cons: i find this club quite ugly, and it sounds like a garbage can
"As a golfer playing only 9 months now, I wanted a nice forgiving driver, but not spending too much. After reading a lot of reviews over the internet, I chose this Nike Sumo 5900 Square driver. I have to admit that value for money was the main reason why i bought this driver. I didn't want too spend more than 100 pound. This driver was just below it, and had good reviews on the internet.
The driver has been sent to me within a week. I live in the Netherlands, so that was quite fast. My first reaction when seeing this driver was that it is quite big. The headcover is huge and I think the driver is quite ugly. But I'm not golfing for the beauty of the clubs, I'm golfing to get a good result.
So I took this driver to the driving range to hit a few balls. I've never been using a driver before, so I've been testing the quality of this club by hitting the ground the first five swings. The Nike Sumo 5900 Square didn't even had a scratch. After hitting the ball for the first time, everyone at the driving range was looking at me. This club really sounds like a garbage can and is very, very, very loud. Not a problem for me, but if you are a golfer that goes for a nice looking club with a great sound, this Nike Sumo 5900 club is absolutely not made for you. Ashamed I put away this driver and went back to my iron 7.
Today I went to the driving range for the second time. I already got a little used to this club, so today was the day the balls really should fly away from me.
And sure they did. I was surprised that even the worst golfer (which I am) can get a ball straight, with this club. And it even got better, because I got the ball more that 200 meters before it even landed. And that's where our driving range ends, so I don't know how much roll it got.
The feeling of the club is great. It's very light, which is okay for me. I have some problems with my back, so a light club is something I really need. It's also easy to get the ball straight. I think almost 60 percent of my balls went the way I wanted them to. Not always as far as I wanted them, but they went straight. And that's exactly where I want them to go. For a comparison: when I use an iron 5, seventy percent of my balls are on the fairway.
I'm very happy with this club, which I will use a lot. Soon I will take some lessons at my teaching pro, to get more control on this club, but for now it's a good club at a more than reasonable price."

Quality driver.
Date: August 2, 2009
Pros: fantastic value for money., great club.
Cons: high flyer difficult on those windy days
"I was slightly skeptical when buying this driver, as I’m a just a beginner to the game of golf and thought that the driver would make little to no difference to my game.
However, I was completely wrong. The change it has made off the tee is fantastic. It has dramatically improved my distance, while not compromising the accuracy at all. Even on the worst of slices I’ve not yet lost a ball. I have no real problems other than not buying this club earlier.
I cannot express how happy I am with the product which is obviously complimented well with the price.
I would encourage any level of golfer searching for a new driver to try this, do no fret. You will not be disappointed and especially the beginners like me take the plunge. It has been worth every penny. Watch and enjoy as your scores drop.

Stunning Performance
Date: May 27, 2009
Pros: extra distance straightness
Cons: huge headcover :o)
"I am no great golfer by any means but in a just a few rounds I've hit some of the longest and most confident drives in about 15 years of playing.
Off the middle of the face, the ball is like a rocket (and I'm not a fast swinger) and I've cleared 250 to 280 yards consistently but most importantly, dead straight. The forgiveness for those off centre shots is great too so you don't need to worry if your swing isn't on the money.
I was cautious as I thought the square head was a bit gimmicky but I have to say it's been a great purchase and at this price it cannot be beaten.
Buy one now, get down the range and hit 100 balls and I'll bet by the end you'll be convinced.
My old Adams Golf driver is going on eBay!"

Amazing Buy
Date: November 8, 2008
"This club is amazing - improved my game by alot!
I decided to buy this club because 1 - It's a very well known Nike driver and 2 - It has been given amazing reviews, so I decided to go to my local club and try one out.
I was having difficulties with my old driver - it had (what it seemed) ULTRA senior flex - which was getting me down because my swing was too fast for it. Not only that, but the max distance I seemed to be reaching was 150 yards - full pelt (and that was when it was going straight - most of the time it was slicing or hooking really badly).
So I decided to go to a local golf shop and get a trial with the SQ Sumo Square 5900 with a regular shaft.
I then went to my local golf driving range and first off had a few warmup/trial shots with my old driver which still was unreliable and sending the ball everywhere. After 5 shots, I changed to the SQ 5900.
The difference was immediate. First shot went almost dead straight and 25 yards further than the same swing 10 seconds before. After several more of the same shots I increased my swing speed - and I find myself landing over 200 yards without trouble - and the accuracy of 10 yards either side of the 200 marker.
So I would recommend this to everyone, young and old to try. It is a truly amazing piece of Nike engineering."

Excellent club - especially for this price
Date: July 30, 2010
"Bought this club as I was fed up with slicing/blocking my tee shots. The SUMO Square driver is a lot more forgiving and helps to reduce my tendency to cut across the ball.
I played 2 rounds with 3 family members over a weekend and they all went and bought this driver the very next day - if he can hit it straight then it must be the club!
My only minor reservation is that it is not the longest club in the world - however, I would gladly sacrifice 20/30 yards to be centre of the fairway.
Has brought my handicap down from mid 20s to 12 in a fraction over a year."

Pros: great distance & forgiveness
"I researched this product on the site and this gave me the confidence to purchase this driver. So I thought it best that I write my results.
Yes it is a little noisy but I like it.
Drives are much straighter and longer and so feel more confident on the course.
Yes more forgiving but it won't heal your game instantly. I'm hitting the fairways off the tee with about an 80% success rate and hitting them 260 yards + and I think I'm holding back. it was about 60% and 220 yards with my old driver.
A good purchase at a good price. I dont think you could be disappointed."

Cured my slice!
Date: July 22, 2010
"I bought the Nike SQ Sumo driver at the end of May, I used it once at the driving range and it impressed me so much I had a smile on my face whilst hitting the ball.
Two days later my clubs were stolen from the boot of my car. Because I was so pleased with the driver, I immediatley ordered another one.
After a couple of hits at the range I felt brave enough to use it on the course.
I hit the ball much further than with my previous driver and it has cured my slice! I used to use a Wilson Deep Reed driver and found myself more often than not slicing the ball. Once I got used to the Nike SQ I am able to hit the ball staright.
It looks huge when you look down on it in your stance and the noise it makes isn't great. However hitting it long and straight more than makes up for the noise.
I played yesterday and my colleague said he was going to order one!!
I am a high handicapper golfer and I am hoping with the help of the Nike SQ my handicapp will soon come down!

Absolute Bargin!!
Date: June 22, 2010
Pros: hits straight and far, feels good in the hands
Cons: headcover!! too big imo
"After investing in some new irons MX-100 to be precise i decided i needed a new driver to go with this and settled on sumo 13 degree driver as i wanted something with more control as i am a high handicapper. When the driver arrived i was apprehensive as it was rather large at address and never been much of a fan of square drivers but i set up and bombed my first drive 250 yards at my local range so instantly i thought this must be a lucky shot so i hit again...with the same result!! I Then proceded to take this club out to the course and did exactly the same as the range and only missed 1 fairway all round (only because of poor aiming) and continued to hit my lowest round with the use of this driver (and probably the irons helped a bit but ive always struggled with driving). For me this club is a must buy especially as i got it when it was on sale at £88 off this site if it still at that price i suggest people snap it up as it is truly a great club which feels great and has really helped mine and by the looks of the reviews many other peoples games."

"What n awsome club - my best golfing purchase in over 15 years of trying to play the game ! From the very first drive it was high straight and long ! It felt right - somehow it slowed my swing as I never felt the need to 'give it all I had'.My slice has disappeared and I have a confidence on the tee I haven't felt for years -. "Immediatelly after receiving this driver I went to play my favourite golf course, I tried this new driver and my old driver is for ever in garage. With this new one I was with my drives so far like never before and my problem with slicing is almost gone. Incredibly good club!"
